DOHA BANK REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE IN CHINA

Doha Bank, the 'Best bank' in the Middle East is expanding its wings once again.

Mr. R. Seetharaman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Doha Bank announced that the bank has received the regulatory approval from the China Banking Regulatory Commission for establishing its Representative Office and the same would be operational effective from 8.8.2007 in Shanghai, P.R. China.


H.E. Yue Xiaoyong, the Ambassador of China to Qatar met Mr. R. Seetharaman, D.C.E.O of Doha Bank at his office and conveyed his greetings for the opening ceremony and the success of the bank's operations in Shanghai.  Mr. Seetharaman thanked him for his greetings and best wishes.


Mr. Seetharaman, further stated that this expansion is in line with the bank's strategy to spread its wings in various continents with a combination of Representative Offices and branches to serve its large customer base that have dealings in the various countries and to meet their international banking needs.


Commenting on the choice of selecting the location, D.C.E.O. said that Shanghai was selected with great care by taking into account the potential business for the bank in the province, which is a business hub for the entire China.  Doha Bank by having its presence in Singapore, Tokyo, Turkey and branches in Dubai and New York is in a better position to provide an excellent and speedy service to its customer and clients who are dealing with these countries, Mr. R. Seetharaman said.  


He further added that with the opening up of the bank's new Representative office in Shanghai, P.R. China, the bank compliment its overseas offices in addition to it existing full branches in New York and Dubai and other offices in Singapore, Tokyo and Turkey.


Mr. R. Seetharaman, D.C.E.O informed that the opening ceremony of the Representative office is scheduled to be held on 8.8.2007 in Shanghai.  He further informed that H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Saud Bin Abdel Aziz Al Thani, the Governor of Qatar Central Bank might participate as the Guest on the inauguration.


H.E. Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, the Qatar Ambassador to Peoples Republic of China has consented to participate as the Guest and greet us on the occasion, the Doha Bank D.C.E.O said.
